About the event
MHI’s Community Connections is a bi-annual event series designed to provide a forum for diverse stakeholders to discuss and develop solutions to pressing health care issues. A common table for the St. Louis region’s practicing clinicians, health care purchasers, health plans, and medical group leaders, Community Connections presents an opportunity to share experiences, perspectives, and ideas on strengthening health care in our community. Our inaugural event, “Building Bridges in Primary Care”, will explore the relationship between enhanced patient experience, increased clinician satisfaction, and improved health outcomes.
A keynote address will be delivered by Susan Edgman-Levitan, Executive Director of the John D. Stoeckle Center for Primary Care Innovation at Massachusetts General Hospital and lecturer on medicine at Harvard Medical School. A physician assistant by training, Susan was a founding president of the Picker Institute and a leading editor of the patient-centered care research book: “Through the Patient’s Eyes.” Susan was also a founding board member of Massachusetts Health Quality Partners, a statewide multi-stakeholder collaborative which measures and reports patient experience to medical groups across the state.
The lecture will be followed by facilitated conversations designed to deepen shared understanding across stakeholders and open a dialogue that considers diverse perspectives on the clinician-patient relationship.
