Why MHILike any large, complex system, health care does not always work as well as it could. In our region and across the nation, quality of care varies and too much of the money we spend does not improve health. MHI believes fixing these problems will require physicians, patients, hospitals, insurers, labor unions and the business community to share responsibility for what’s wrong and work together to make it right. The MHI Board serves as a place where these groups can come together. Health care also suffers from lack of information. Physicians and hospitals do not always know about the care patients receive elsewhere or how often patients follow doctors’ advice. The MHI data asset provides information on the health of our citizens and the health care provided in our community. MHI hopes its Board, Physician Leadership Council and other groups will use this information to determine priorities for improvement and develop strategies to achieve success. |
“You manage what you measure. MHI gives providers important data to better manage their practices.”
